Katy Trail Bicycle Tour

My friend Jack Hadder passed away during the summer of 2019 and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. He and I had a beautiful friendship sharing our thoughts about each other and our dreams regularly.

We discussed going on his first overnight bike adventure together. He was inspired by my bike trip around the perimeter of America. Our plan was to try a short weekend trip on the Ohio bike trails then tackle all 237 miles of the Katy Trail in Missouri.

Unfortunately, Jack got sick from brain cancer and we were never able to go on those bike adventures. It has haunted me since his passing that we missed that opportunity and only talked about it.

November 2021, I rode the Katy Trail with very important people in my life. It was time to quit talking about it. A way to honor Jack of sorts.

Thanks to Tisha McCombs, TJ Statt and Terri Cehelnik Rieser for making this happen. I love you all for riding and supporting the adventure. It means the world to me.

We combined Vanlife and bike life on this one. Tisha and Teri drove van support and TJ and I rode. Thanks to creative van shuttling we all rode one day together along with other trail visits from Tisha.

It was a ton of fun and also a scouting trip of sorts. This is planting the seeds for a KatyJack Trail Festival in 2022.

So...those things on your one day list?? I hope you tackle them soon!
